Advocacy Submission Only

This page and form are not legal intake, do not provide legal advice, and do not create an attorney-client relationship.

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ

You must know this before continuing

Dear Parent or Guardian,

You may have found our firm through recent media coverage involving a lawsuit concerning the Killeen Independent School District (KISD). We take student safety—especially for children with special needs—seriously.

Because we have received a high volume of outreach, we created a limited advocacy-only process to collect non-identifying information and raise public accountability concerns where appropriate.

What this is

This submission process exists solely to help us:

  • identify recurring patterns or systemic safety issues; and
  • communicate concerns (in summary, anonymized, or aggregate form) to appropriate decision-makers—such as media outlets, public officials, oversight authorities, and policymakers—focused on safety, compliance, supervision, and access determinations.

What this is NOT

This is NOT:

  • legal advice;
  • a case evaluation;
  • a request for legal representation;
  • an agreement to investigate, negotiate, or file any legal claim.

No attorney–client relationship / no confidentiality

Submitting information through this advocacy process does not create an attorney–client relationship and does not make your communication confidential or privileged unless and until we both sign a separate written engagement agreement.

Do NOT send sensitive information

For your protection, do not submit:

  • any minor’s full name, date of birth, SSN, student ID, or medical identifiers;
    • Example: Real Name: John Smith Doe = “J.D.”,
  • IEP/ARD records, medical/therapy/diagnostic records;
  • photos or videos of minors;
  • documents containing sensitive personal, educational, or medical data; or
  • names of staff or minors (use job titles or general descriptors only).

Deadlines and emergencies

  • We are not monitoring legal deadlines for you. If you believe you have legal claims, consult an attorney of your choosing immediately.
  • This is not an emergency reporting system. If a child is in immediate danger, call 911 or the appropriate authorities right away.

No promise of response or action

We may not respond to every submission. Submitting information does not guarantee review, follow-up, advocacy action, media use, or any particular outcome.  We are attempting to put together either a routine email, blog, or newsletter of sorts where we will try to keep folks updated as much as possible.

Public statements / defamation risk

Public allegations can carry legal risks (including defamation claims). We cannot advise you about public statements or defend you in any related dispute without a separate written engagement agreement.

How to submit (minimal facts only)

If you choose to participate, submit only the limited information requested on our Advocacy Story Submission Form.

If you have questions about the form itself, you may contact our office for administrative clarification only.

With respect,

JW Zepeda
